About the Speaker:
Dr. Nilam Andalia Kurniasari is a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia specializing in the Law of the Sea and Maritime Law. Currently, she is the head of Centre for Maritime, Ocean Law, and State’s Interests Protection Studies (MAROCLAW+) at the same institution. She is also a visiting lecturer at the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Indonesia. Previously, she was also invited to deliver guest lecture sessions abroad, including at Pusan National University, Korea and University of Gdansk, Poland. In 2023 and 2024 she was invited by Wuhan University, China to take part at China International Law of the Sea Moot Court Competition as a judge. She is also a member of Women in Maritime Association (WIMA), Indonesia. Her current research interest is in ship’s biofouling, which perhaps a familiar issue naval engineers but somehow it is a niche area from the perspective of the law. Join her lecture session to explore the nexus between invasive aquatic species, biofouling, green shipping and the law.
